Weight Painting Gone

So for some reason, since I have UV mapped my joints have somehow detached themselves in the process. I am not happy about this as we were not told that we should uv map before doing anything else to avoid having issues like this. This means that my character is no longer weightpainted or animated which is very frustrating as I have already weightpainted my character for a second time and improved him a lot.
Just wish i was told that things like this can happen if you uv map after skinning and  weightpainting because that is the order that we have done this assignment in.

UV Mapping Complete

UV Mapping

After a much needed tutorial session from Lachie I have finally started it.

So far in this picture I have done the wings, one leg, and his head. The body is what I'm most worried about but will worry about it when I get to it.

First time i have ever UV Mapped.

Fixed Seem

On my first model there were faces inside the nose that I did not delete when I joined him. This resulted in the line you can see down his face in the second picture.

I have fixed this in the top image.

Rigged and Skinned Model

Combined Mesh

I have now combined the mesh so am ready to rig him again. This shouldn't take too long as I now know exactly where i need the bones from my previous low poly model.

Improving low poly model

Because I wasn't completly with my low poly model, I have gone back to a model that had not been rigged or anything and made some improvements to it.

The main thing I wanted to improve was its eyes. I have now made eye sockets for my model and it looks much better.

The second part of my model that I really wasn't happy with was his wing / fin things on his back. I have really smoothed these out by moving the different vertexs around.

I have also used the sculpt geometry tool to smooth out my model. Especially around the top parts of the legs. Has made his overall body shape look much better.
